Ritsurin-Koen

Takamatsu's park, this was a Daimyo's stroll garden for about 200 years, and took another 100 to build. It has many Japanese cedars forced into a number of styles (like folding screens and boxes), ponds, and an abundance of koi. An American walking past us exclaimed "it's all trees,water, fish in Japanese gardens, trees, water, fish". He sounded like he was missing the point. Boat trips around the ponds make everyone don sedge hats, presumably to keep us folk on the shore taking photos happy.
