This is not a razor clam

At Aizle with the IF5 tonight. What a treat. An excellent tasting menu, and a bottle or two of nice red.

Green and I meet on Branding Terrace and walk up to Rose Street. A ping in Fierce Beer (cerveza brewed with lime and salt) for me. Malc joins us a little later and we chat until the appointed hour.

Aizle is spacious and very well staffed. We don’t have to wait long for Naz and Jem to arrive, and then it’s straight into the meal. It’s a succession of tiny snacks and smash plates. Hard to say which dish I liked the best - because they were all lovely.

The razor clam is entirely edible. Shell made of painted pastry. Filling a delicate white fishy roux.

Even though they sell the tasting menu as six courses it feels like more. And none of us are left hungry despite the total absence of chips.
