Blasted?

I think of the "blasted oak", wherever I saw that written, when I see a tree like this.  I don't think that it's an oak, nor that it has been hit by lightning, but it's pretty scraggy nonetheless.

I was looking for a sunset photo when I went to find this tree, but the clouds intervened and the sun was a mere patch of brightness as sunset approached.  I'll use this tree again, when the sky is clearer as the sun goes down.
