THE OLD FEED MILL

It's Homecoming Week at the local high school in Elkhart Lake.....lots of activities, a parade downtown, a football game Friday night and a formal dance tonight...a King and Queen will be elected to preside over the dance.

The Homecoming Court is composed of several couples representing all the fall sports that our school participates in....football (boys), volleyball (girls), cross country (boys & girls), soccer (boys), tennis (girls) and swimming (girls).  Girl's soccer and boy's swimming are co-op sports and are played in the Springtime.

The photo is of the old feed mill in town....taken during an idle moment waiting for the parade to start.  This is where local farmers brought their seed grain to be ground and bagged for feed.  The mill itself no longer operates but a local couple bought it and did some remodeling, added some gift shops, a grocery, a brewery and, in front, a cafe, Off the Rail.

It's a very popular place during tourist season and is, basically, our Starbucks at no where near the cost for a cup of coffee.  Basically, what you pay for one coffee at Starbucks will get you coffee here for a week. And they make great sandwiches as well.
