Delayed action plant?

For reasons unknown this is the first flower of the year produced by the Gerbera.  A hot Summer should have been ideal for this native plant of South Africa and a succession of flowers should have been produced at that time. Maybe an Indian Summer might just encourage the production  of further blooms. At the present time it is very wet and windy!!
