Bramblings

We spend the morning at Bempton, the white cliffs feel deserted - rather than derelict- the turning of the seasons - most of the seabirds have gone, but there are still a few seagulls and a few gannets circling the cliffs - good to enjoy having a go at photographing these - but the results are poor. I manage some shots of a kestrel which J sees landing on the cliff tops, he has to set the camera on it before I can see it, in the extra.

But then the unexpected, at the feeder station near the dell,  we see these bramblings - never seen them before - and they are so beautiful! A couple there generously lend us there Zeiss binoculars (might be investing!), and share their font of knowledge - what a difference that makes, it’s here that the other birds in the extra are taken - goldfinch, redwing, sparrow - it’s the place to be!
Then we have our picnic under the sun above Thornick Bay, before enjoying a walk down to the beach here then we head home via Byland Abbey - taking more Abbey pictures for future use
