Redpoll

Although we never saw much in the way of the sun today it was much warmer, which will please the farmers who are desperately needing the grass to grow to feed their animals. The poor sheep are suffering badly as there still isn't enough grass to feed them. Hopefully, it will remain warm for a few days and with the rain we are getting things will grow.

In recent weeks a number of birds have returned to the garden and surrounding area. Swallows, Sandpipers, Siskins, Willow Warblers and Gold Finches have joined all the regular song birds to make the feeding stations a much more interesting spot to observe. It is always great when you get a new visitor and today this little fellow and his partner appeared at the niger seeds. First time I have ever seen a Redpoll , so I was delighted. Unfortunately, the light was poor and I couldn't get the detailed shot I was after with some daffodils in the background. Never mind, its another species to add to the list of birds blipped!
