Today's the day ....................... to be chuffed

I picked these flowers in the garden this afternoon for a little posy - and I can't deny that I'm feeling quite chuffed - because in there, there are quite a few sweet peas.

I would say that to still have sweet peas in flower halfway through October, is pretty good going?!  In fact, I heard Monty Don say on Gardeners' World this week that his sweet peas didn't last beyond July.  He was suggesting that you should plant next year's seeds now, so that they get off to a good start.

It is, of course, testament to the sort of summer weather that we've had here - nice and sunny, but not over-the-top hot - with enough rain to keep the ground from being parched.  And then, an autumn that so far hasn't been too cold or wet.  In fact, it's still looking pretty colourful out there .....................
