Apples

I am always surprised to see lots of apples on my neighbours tree, in spite of the fact that the trunk of the tree is split open vertically  in half. The apples are never picked , nor the the windfalls collected. However the birds do benefit in the winter - a constant source of food.  When all the leaves have gone the apples look like golden baubles. I am sure  they will be another blib!
