The dropped stitch

A big day

Up early to make scones.
M went off to the airport to meet the architect for our housing project, who arrived at 8am. An early start for him from Edinburgh.

It was an excellent day. Our first face to face meeting with the architect. What a difference to be able to escape the constraints of Zoom. We would all be lost without it now and the opportunities it gives to speak to people anywhere in the world from our homes. But you can't replace the experience of sitting across the table from someone.

Long lists of questions were tackled today, both big and small. We pored over plans and endless pages of technical details and enjoyed a lunch together.

The Orkney weather gave a good demonstration of what it can do. G arrived with tales of a bumpy flight, the plane being buffeted by the wind as it came in to land. The rain was torrential and it was a question of paddling through a rapidly forming lake to get from the car to the village hall.

By 4pm the sky was blue and the sun was out. We all walked up to the house site where I took my blip.
