Woodchuck Mountain

Birdi and I hiked up Woodchuck Mountain.  It was a trail I had never been on before and its a keeper.  The highest elevation in Newbury, VT at only 1742'.  But the best part was signs of spring ephemerals for next year, like hepatica leaves.
The main is a Red Eft, terrestrial stage of the Eastern Red-Spotted Newt. What a spark of color to spot among the wet leaves.  Birdi is admiring the beech trees in my extra.
