The lake is up

Forbes is one of the towns affected by the floods in the central west of NSW. Our dear friend Babb and her family used to farm two neighbouring properties near Forbes. From time to time a lake would rise between the two properties, cutting them off from each other by road. Then the tinny would come out, as the shortest means of communication was by water.

By some strange legal quirk, when the lake was up duck shooters were allowed access to Babb’s property. They camped on the lake side and left a lot of garbage to be collected.

These photos show the lake in 1984. If you look very carefully you may see a very excited dog enjoying the lake.
