The last leaves of summer

There won't be any more new leaves on the banana plant this year. I'm going to take it indoors into the cabin to overwinter it. My friend Pip gave me an offshoot of his banana plant which he grew very successfully in his garden in Bristol. It grew to about twelve feet and spread around the end of his garden.

I've had this one for about a six years and although it has grown several offshoots I don't think it thrives in the pot which I keep on the patio during the summer. I keep telling myself I should plant it out in the ground but it hasn't happened yet. It is a bit like my olive tree which is getting huge in its pot. Perhaps next year for some serious planting out?
