Brig O’ Balgownie

Our walk took us over this ancient crossing of the River Don this morning. This would have been the route for travellers entering Aberdeen from the north for centuries. The bridge was built in 1320 at the behest of Robert the Bruce from granite and sandstone. It was rebuilt again in the 17thC. Walking over the bridge takes you to Seaton Park, Hillhead Halls of residence for students and onwards towards St Machars Cathedral and the University.
