The Italian Chapel

We left Orkney today and started our journey home. As we were passing the Italian Chapel on our way to the ferry from St Margaret's Hope and we had a little bit of time to spare, we went in to have a look. I've been once before but was still amazed by it. It was created by Italian POWs interred in Orkney during the second world war and is formed of two nissan huts joined together. The craftsmanship and care that went into creating it is wonderful and it is a really beautiful space.

After seeing the chapel it was time to join the queue for the ferry and say goodbye to Orkney. It has been a good holiday and I was sorry to have to leave.
