Umbrellas May Be Needed

Despite weather warnings of storms and heavy rain, my sister and I took a chance on a predicted dry break to head over to Sevenoaks Nature Reserve sans BiL and dog Jak.

We experienced a lovely mild afternoon with some blue skies and no rain.  At times the lakes were super smooth (no need for a "big stopper") with wonderful autumn reflections, though there were few birds to be seen until a large flock of geese disturbed the calm.

We were both torn between macro lens for the fungi around or long lens for birds. However, for me the macro lens won out with this little clump of bonnets growing on a bench looking like mini umbrellas. Fortunately, they weren't needed as we got back to the car just before the rain started, though we did have to drive back through torrential rain in a fierce thunderstorm and a "snowstorm" of leaves.
