Over the fence

Today's the day .......................... to increase production

This is the view over our garden fence, down to the River Dee perhaps forty feet below, on its way to Kirkcudbright and then out into the Solway Firth.

The Tongland Hydro Power Station is just upstream from us.  We always know when it is in generating mode because there's an increased flow of water in the river.  The huge turbine takes in the water from the reservoir upstream of the Power Station and then returns it to the River Dee when it has done its job.  It's all such a good idea, particularly at this time when other ways of making power are so costly to the planet - and the consumer.

We've noticed recently that they seem to be generating electricity far more often than they used to.  It was generally just a few hours in the morning and then the same around the teatime rush.  Now, it can be any time of the day - or perhaps even the night.  There surely must be a bright future ahead for all forms of renewable energy ....................?

PS Just a bit of fun in the extra for anyone who does WORLDLE.  I'm sure I wouldn't have been the only one to laugh out loud when I saw today's challenge!
