The rain in Spain …

A particularly wet drive from Gijon to Santiago de Compostela. Highlight of the day was arriving into the main plaza & parking up. Santiago de Compostela marks the end of the St James pilgrims walk so it was particularly busy with walkers and cyclists who had completed their 500 miles. We only drove 250 miles.
As well as receiving permission to park in the square, we were lucky to stay in the Parador in the city. For those not familiar, the Parador hotels are state owned hotels in former monasteries, castles & other historic buildings. The buildings have been restored and converted to preserve their status and allow them to continue to be open to the public. We have stayed in a few and they are definitely worth considering if you are visiting the area.
