violin crustacean

This fiddler crab was not pleased to see us. He curled up in his shell and played dead.

Today was a fairly low-key day. After cleaning up the fire trailer and equipment, we went out to survey some horseshoe crabs. The first beach we found 2, and in the bathtub, a warmer, less flowing, shallow body of sea water, we found many mating pairs.

After that, we went out and counted flowers. The species is a sensitive species outside of the island and we're researching ways to manage it to do better. No management, fire, or mowing; how does it react? We'll see.

Tomorrow: Sheep poop and a botany walk. What does the former mean? You'll see tomorrow.
