Here we go again!

Arromanches

We started today at Arromanches (code name: Gold Beach) and visited the Musée du débarquement there. It had a focus mostly on the engineering feats that enabled the allied landings. Next we visited the Juno Beach Centre (actual name: Courseulles-sur-Mer), with a focus on Canadian participation in the landings. The gift shop was well-stocked with maple syrup and Canadian beer, which I thought was pretty funny. Delicious seafood lunch right next to the Juno Centre, then off to tour the German bunker at Ouistreham (code name: Sword Beach). Our friend A took lots of notes in his little yellow book for the museum he is conceiving of and we had a very nice day. We bought delicious fresh scallops for dinner at the fish monger in Bayeux. Good thing all four of us love seafood so much as we've eaten little else since our friends arrived.
