Autumn view from the Hillfort

Last night F and I went to pick O up from Liverpool Airport.  We got there with no problems and O's plane was on time.  We set off for home.  All went smoothly until we got part way back and discovered that the Wrexham by-pass was closed for roadworks.  None of us knew the area so I just guessed which road to take and we drove along for some distance until we found a petrol stationwhere we stopped.

F and I were making little progress with the map and ditto O with his phone.  F went into the petrol station but the young man couldn't show us where we were on the map.

We had another look at the map in the car when there was a knock on the window.  A young lady was there and asked if she and her friend could help.  It turned out that they were going to Wrexham so needed the same road.  They knew the way back to the by-pass avoiding the roadworks section so asked us to follow them.  We were so grateful!

We followed them to Chester where we all stopped and we were able to thank them.  Two real angels!

It's been another lovely mild day today. This afternoon I went for a walk around Oswestry Hillfort.  The colours of the ferns and undergrowth were looking beautiful as my photo shows.

This evening I dropped O off at Gobowen station.  He's having a belated birthday weekend in Birmingham with a friend.  Apparently their activities will be a surprise.  Knowing the two of them it will be something historical.
