Shadow on Paint

We have an oil painting that we got from Madrid about 10 years ago. The sun was hitting it such that it was casting shadows on itself since the oil is so thick in parts. It is a view of the painting that only exists for a couple of minutes a day, for a couple of weeks a year, when it is sunny.
