A rum do….

The acer always looks quite red when in leaf but this week it excelled itself. That is, until the wind arrived. Now there are more leaves on the ground and in the pond than there are on the tree.

N had an appointment in Tobermory this morning so I went along with him for the fun of it, despite the wet and windy weather. Also, I needed to deliver to the island Food Bank this week's contributions from our local community. I was really impressed by the organisation quietly going on behind the scenes.

We also called in to Browns, the local wine merchant and ironmongers which is now under “new”management, the fifth generation of Browns. We were looking for a bottle of rum and came away with a new one to us: Askival rum from the neighbouring island of Rum. It is based on Caribbean rum blended with local Rum water and infused with roasted kelp, spruce and meadowsweet. The taste is definitely that of rum, but with a difference. Very pleasant if you like rum.
