Portsmouth Cycling Club.

Hi Everyone,

In 1973 when I first started cycling, I joined the Portsmouth Cycling Club (PCC) and raced happily for them until I retired from racing in 1984.
Today some of the guys from way back then, met up for a bike ride.

The PCC was a very well-known club back then and we raced around the country mostly on the track, back in a time when they were called tracks not velodromes. The club produced riders who went onto win many national championships, one commonwealth games medalist and a world champion.

The club slowly died at the turn of the century, but we reformed it earlier this year. There are no plans to rule the world just old mates going out for a bike ride. Today this motley crew met at the place we always use to meet back in the 70’s and headed out on there bike for a little ride to a nearby café… I followed in the car because of my wonky hip but you could still see the competitive element was still there every time the road slightly when uphill or a village signpost appear that we would always sprint for.

A nice morning with old friends.

Stay happy, strong, and healthy

POG,,
