Artists dicussion

Gill is explaining to Susan how she does her lino cuts.

{begin: long story}
Around 35 years ago, when we lived in Caithness, Gill wanted a telephone in our bedroom,  I was not keen and said, "ok, if it is on your side of the bed"  This was before the age of mobiles!

A few weeks later, said telephone rings at ~03:00 "it's for you she says" indignantly " its a young woman!"

It was a call out to a fault on Orkney and the young woman had understood I would need an early call to catch the ferry.

Time rolls on ... life happens ...  the young woman is now an artist and arrives to make a presentation at Gill's art group,  explains that she used to work for BBC transmission ...

" You don't know Steve Gale do you?"
"Oh yes, I remember Steve ..."
Calls me down to the village hall ...
"Remember that early hours phone call?"
"Yes"  looking worried ...
"This is the young woman!"

{end: long story}

Gill's art group had an open day in the village hall today.  It was very successful, visitors talking to the artists, demonstrations, sales, children trying arts, some blipper taking photographs ... everyone looked to be having a good time.   Gill was impressed by Susan's presentation (a few weeks back) on collage and she in turn was asking Gill today about her lino cut prints.

Yesterday evening was a different art form.
A Ukrainian refugee has been taken in by a family in the village,  she is a talented violinist and her host is an acclaimed baritone.  Her daughter has adapted well to the village school and they are happy in their temporary home.  By way of a thank you she plays a concert in the church with the help of a local talented pianist and the acclaimed baritone.
1st half, classical music with a Ukrainian theme - all very emotional.
2nd half - she played her violin along with various backing tracks.
We'll meet again, Hotel California (jaazz version) Get Lucky, Time to say Goodnight  The audience joined in singing :-)

The church was packed, collection plate overflowing, tears flowed ... absolutely fantastic.  Particularly Hotel California!
