Caerlaverock Castle

More rain today, torrential at times with the occasional dry spell. The Old Mill Gallery at Palnackie was a real hidden gem on a rainy day. Lucy and Edward are inspiring young artists, and the gallery has beautiful books, artworks, and a lovely energy. From there we drove passed The Wicker Man and on to Kirkcudbright visiting the excellent Raymond Briggs exhibition there - As a long time fan of Fungus the Bogeyman how could I not! An interesting photographic exhibition there features - amongst other things - The Wicker Man dressed as Father Christmas
A pit stop at the Motte of Urr, before arriving at Caerlaverock, I do loved a moted castle! It’s closed due to recent falling masonry and blighted by scaffolding - making it a good candidate for derelict Sunday!
It’s claim to fame is the siege of 1300, which was immortalised in poetry, but the major damage was done in the 1600’s post Henry VIII shenanigans.
Home now, and caught up with Strictly, hope your weekend has been a good one
Thanks to Marlieske for hosting
