WNO orchestra

Went to a delightful concert this afternoon by the Welsh National Opera orchestra! It was a children’s concert and involved a narrator telling a story about going on a sea voyage, being ship wrecked on an island where there were dinosaurs and having to ask a scary fairy how to find the dinosaurs!

The children in the audience were invited to lean in the wind, turn corkscrews as the ship began to sink and then listen to the scary fairy bemoaning her fate!

All these sections were accompanied by exciting classical music including pieces by Puccini and Grieg and ending withJohn Williams with the theme tune to jurassic park! Along the way on the hunt for the dinosaurs we all had to sing a song about having a romp!

It was a great way to introduce children of all ages to classical music in a fun way! Beforehand there was a treasure hunt and face painting and a place to try on wigs!

Earlier in the afternoon I had walked down to the sea front and seen an ibis and Heron on the tide line footling about for food!
