I have now got the technology working again so I shall try to back-blip some of my recent missing days.  The problem was that the new MAC operating system, 'Ventura", does not yet seem to be able to connect to cameras by cable.  Until such time as this is corrected I have now acquired a suitable card reader to get around the problem.
