The Willows - Kirkwall

The Kelpies of Loch Coruisk and Dora Connelly were amongst dances this morning.  But not before I’d visited part of Kirkwall that I hadn’t seen for years; for it is the Willows.  Autumn in Orkney is a fleeting thing.  There are few trees and leaves are stripped bare by the first winds.  I don’t think Woody Herman and Ralph Burns had it in mind when writing ‘Early Autumn’ for Ella Fitzgerald.  I went in past to see Davie today and he was perkier because he’s back on his chemo treatment.

We spoke at length about Rudi Van Gelder – someone has to.

Kenny Burrell is 91.
