a lifetime burning

Waiting it out

The grey heron had found a sheltered spot, up against the reed banks where he was protected from the strong blustery winds and the frequent downpours that we have been experiencing today.  Although colder it is still very mild for November.

The seasons definitely seem to be changing and I think the cause of that is pretty well understood by most nowadays, but before I get lost in another rant, lets get back to the weather and as Flanders and Swann's " Weather Song" had it 60 years ago:

"Bleak September's mist and mud,
Is enough to chill the blood.
Then October adds a gale,
Wind and slush and rain and hail.
Dark November brings the fog,

Should not do it to a dog."

We seem to be stuck somewhere between September and October at the moment, although at 12C it was noticeably colder today, definitely cold enough to chill the blood if you caught that wind in full blast.
