Fishing village

The bus did what I expected until we got to the fishing village when it didn't turn down to the port but sped further along the coast. (We found out later that the road was closed).  By the time we were allowed off we were almost as far beyond the village as we had started. Luckily there was a lovely path along the coast back to the village and we had worn walking boots in case something went wrong with the bus.  But we were certainly ready for a drink when we finally arrived. It's hot and steamy!

The village is only just starting to be developed. There are no hotels but some small villas and apartments being built. It is still a working fishing harbour. You can probably see the black sand beach behind the boats which is ground-up basalt from the lava out of the volcano.

After we had finished exploring we had lunch next to the harbour wall. MrHCB had a mixed seafood grill and I had penne pasta with prawns - both delicious!

A helpful local showed us where to catch the bus back which was much less eventful.
