Mälzerei

What a fab day, first we went on a tour around the Mälzerei, or Maltings? A completely new business set up by a friend. First this amazing wooden construction made from local larch, all built by local workmen. All of the equipment was Swiss made too. Switzerland was importing all its own malted barley and wheat for beer, baking etc, and they can supply 2% of this! The works is completely booked for the next two years, all the grains coming from smaller IP Swiss farmers.
After the tour I worked on finishing my report, and then at 5.30 we got the train to Baden. A friend and her twin brother’s joint 60th birthday. It was at a really cool and fantastic restaurant in Baden, Rampe. Food and company excellent. We got the train back home at midnight, maybe a bit early as the party was still in full swing, but the next train would have been 1.30.
