Bean rock lighthouse

I pass this old light house every day and have often thought about blipping it.
It is Bean rock and is the oldest surviving wooden structured lighthouse in New Zealand, it was also the first automated lighthouse in NZ.

Knowing my love of all stories to do with the gold rush I was surprised to learn it was built to cope with the extra traffic into Auckland harbour following the coromandel gold rush and importantly it was designed by a Scotsman:-)
