Between the Trees

"Between every two pine trees there is a door leading to a new way of life." - John Muir

Well, not two pine trees but I love that quote by John Muir, also known as "John of the Mountains" and "Father of the National Parks".  He was an influential Scottish-American naturalist, author, environmental philosopher, botanist, zoologist, glaciologist, and early advocate for the preservation of wilderness in the United States of America.  This is Jay Bird Pond, quite near my house.  The trees are mostly bare now, except for the oaks.  The landscape reveals its bones and is now at rest.
