Fronds

The bracken* is flopping but it boasts an impressive array of colours and patterns. Good things: it can be used as a dye (yellow), made into fodder for livestock, used as bedding for cattle (and possibly humans), can be made into a mulch and is possible edible though I never have. Bad things: ticks love it and lurk in the fronds, it is also toxic and a carcinogenic.
A day trying to keep off the computer partly successful : a spot of domestic goddess work, some gardening, an indulgent read at lunchtime (Listen to the Land Speak: Manchán Mangan) and a walk over the top past the stone circle.
* edit: don't believe a word I tell you the pic is royal fern!
