Birthday Surprise

Shenny gave Roam a multi-part birthday surprise. The first instalment was yesterday morning when she told him they were glamping in the Lakes. That turned into two nights at a hotel on Ullswater, which he was considerably relieved about in view of the strength of the winds last night and, as she so described, the Biblical rainfall. The second instalment was the rest of the family coming over to the hotel today to join them for a celebration birthday dinner. Fortunately, it turned out to be a beautiful day, although with stuff to do in the morning and the light going by 5pm, I felt like a caged-tiger not being able to get out on the fells.

Driving down with S, Forrest following behind with O, I had the unusual experience of water washing over my feet inside the car. We found some very deep puddles. It's a sign that my head's all over the place of the moment when my blip is a shot taken through the front window of the car. This is the road from Kirkstone Pass heading into Patterdale.

Roam was duly very surprised to see us all. And the food was fabulously good. Happy 29th. How is that possible?
