Clachbain

Farmhouse on the southern edge of Dava Moor. The farmhouse was abandoned around 1985, renovated in 2014 but is again uninhabited. It occupies a wonderfully isolated spot with views northwards to Dava and south to the Cairngorms. The Steading (extra) is gradually falling into advanced dereliction and assuming the browns and russets of the moor.

A glorious day of autumnal sunshine which illuminated the yellowing larch behind the Steading and the occasional birches dotted about the fringe of the moor. The highlight of the walk was watching first one then two kites hunting above Clachbain and Achnahannet where there are extensive rabbit warrens.
