Fat Rascals

I tried to bake some Fat Rascals. Mrs. K. Tells me they are not fat enough. When I rolled the pastry it was too thin. And I did not make a little face on top with almonds and glace cherries.
They taste good though. My next attempt will be better.

Fat Rascals originated in Yorkshire in the 19th century. They were not well known outside the county until the 1980s when they began to be sold by Bettys, the famous Yorkshire tea rooms with branches in York, Harrogate and Leeds. They now sell 375,000 each year.

They are a kind of cross between a Scone and a Rock Cake. Delicious for your fika.
