Sankey St Helens Canal at the Ferry Tavern

This afternoon we went for a little stroll along the canal from the Ferry Tavern end. We've never been here for a walk before despite it being only 10 minutes' drive, so it was a chance to explore and see where the light comes from later in the day. I was hoping for a lovely sunset in the canal at some point, but we didn't see anywhere that this could happen, so it's a shot of some of the boats along the tow path near the pub. The Ferry Tavern has been there since 1762 and is one of Warrington's oldest pubs. It is situated on its own island between the canal and the river Mersey and in the summer is very popular with walkers and cyclists being on part of the Trans Pennine Trail.
I have a vague recollection of one of my oldest friends working at the pub as a barmaid for a short while when she turned 18, but we weren't allowed to go and see her as she was the oldest in our year and knew all our birthdays! I was a very law-abiding teenager don't you know :)
