Distressed hórreo

An hórreo, an Asturian grain-store on stilts, in a distressed state. This one is technically a pañera, because the roof has a ridged construction. They are protected by law but owners can not be (or at least are not) forced to maintain them. They can be left to rot and fall. As is happening  here, the roof is often the first part to fail, and in time the building implodes. Here there is pressure on the owner to safeguard his property and he has covered the hole in the roof with a polythene sheet, which can be seen torn in two and flapping in the wind. Visible in the photo are the consequences of the roof´s collapse. Also visible in the photo are (1) a tilting pegoyo (leg) showing what lateral forces are doing to the structure, and (2) to the right of it, the props behind the structure which are keeping it vertical.
In the extra, a rose-tinted sunset from the point where my lane joins the road through the village.
