Not “playing possum”

Sadly, we returned home from our camping trip to the coast today to find a dead young possum in our back yard. We can’t tell why he died but wonder if the rain and sub-freezing temperatures were a factor. This was my only photo of the day.
The song from Louden Wainwright came to mind, “Dead skunk in the middle of the road”.
