More Memories

A Play, Pint & a Pint at the Traverse. Jinnistan, the final one of the season. Twas OK. This season has all been all right, but a bit, I dunno, some way short of inspiring. Maybe the three we missed were the ones we should have seen. R&E were there too - and who turned up but MrT. But I didn’t hang about afterwards as I was off to busy myself in the boat. The list grows longer.
The usual Wednesday outing - Rog was going to come along until he realised the Rangers v Hearts game wasn’t being televised. But, that Diggers, you’ve got to hand it to them - they somehow managed to get one TV tuned in (is that still a thing?) to Rangers TV! We plugged away and lost 1-0.
Though the big news of the day was the sad demise of Dan McCafferty of Nazareth. Their version of This Flight Tonight, surely one of the greatest covers of any song and certainly of Joni Mitchell’s, has been a favourite of mine since I first heard it as an impressionable 17 year old. The Riccarton Heriot Watt Campus had not long opened just down the road from home so we went to visit - and there was a Student Union with a jukebox - we played TFT several times on it. Rexy, who looked older than me, with shoulder length hair, got the beers in. We ended up back in someone’s room listening to a band called Babe Ruth. Aye, indeed. Farewell, Dan. See you further down the road.
