Over the wall

In spite of the wild wind, George and I took Stella up the road.

We kept hearing this odd whistling, which at first I assumed was the wind blowing around the metal lampposts.

Instead it turned out to be the walking stick I'm using at the moment. When the wind hit the holes in it just right, it made a very eerie sound.

We bumped into Iain, who was walking Penny. He suggested that a hollow walking stick was exactly how the flute was invented. And he knows about these things, so I'm sure he's right.
