A very warm sunny day.

Louise and I met Lucy's Ukrainian guest in town and took her for coffee and cake.

Her name is Sonya and she's 22. Clearly very intelligent and her English is incredible.  Very brave to leave her life and family in Ukraine.  

It was interesting hearing her experience of the war and the role her boyfriend plays in the conflict.  

She remarked on our hair and youthful looks. Ukrainian women do not allow themselves to go grey and are old in their sixties. Her grandmother is only 54 and she, at 22, is seen as an oddity because she is still childless.  

I think there will be interesting conversations to come.
