At the gym

I would like to know why all the notices and names of our lessons in the gym are written in English, why all the devices we use in class are called with English names, and why the monitors pronounce these words as if they belonged to a strange language  that they don't seem to know.

Many questions I am afraid!  (I keep forgetting I am not a teacher any longer)
