Saradise

Saratoga, where we are staying, is situated on a peninsula in Brisbane Water. The area was first exploited by European settlers for citrus orchards, after John Bourke and his family settled in the area in 1863. Bourke went on to become a pioneer in commercial citrus growing in the area of Brisbane Water. Nowadays fishing seems to be the predominant activity. The area is surrounded on three sides by water. There are lots of walks around the coastline and into the hills behind. A local sign says ‘Welcome to Saradise’ and you can see why.
