FirstBear...and Then Some

The Polar Bears have been waiting! Waiting for a winter storm to create hard ice on Hudson Bay. This allows them to move onto the ice to hunt Ring Seals, their very favorite food! For months the bears have been waiting for this event. And it finally happened three days ago. So now a large percentage of the bears have gone onto the ice and out of view of us, who so badly want to see and photograph them! There are still bears, most likely the younger and older ones, who haven't left for their hunting grounds. We spotted five of them today. Two adults and a female with two cubs. They were a long distance away for really good shots, but there's always tomorrow. Do take a look at the *extras...An Arctic Hare, the first that our guide had seen this season, and an Arctic Fox. The temp for Churchill this morning as we left on the Rover was 1 degree F!
