Here comes the sun

We often watch the dawn light rising over the Pacific Ocean from our coastal retreat’s lounge window at Tūmai, 45 km north of Dunedin.  The house is isolated on a ridge, about 30 m above the sea, so we are spoiled with an uninterrupted 220-degree view through the lounge windows.

I absolutely love the way Sarah Kirk (‘SK’ in her “Good morning canary” journal) treats us to repeated images of her spectacular view in all its moods – thanks Sarah!  I’ll try to emulate her with a similar series from Fiona and my house at Tūmai in the coming Blip storms, starting with this featured image a taken a few minutes before the sun appeared above the horizon.

I named the image after Richie Haven’s joyous song, “Here Comes the Sun” for anticipation of the day ahead.

I have used a very slow Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) to try to capture the deep meditative quality to the waves in calm conditions like this morning. In a storm, it’s very different, as you’ll soon see.

Another ICM from low down near the sea and later in the day appears in today’s offering in my secondary Blip account (EcoShutterBug2).
