Truly Blippin' Marvelous

Looking for one book, William Golding's The Hot Gates, find another. I understood, until now, that paperback books last about fifty years; now Google tells me the shelf life of a paperback is only ten to twenty years; and hardbacks only twice that. This paperback was published in 1940 and of course, the spine is unglued and torn but the pages are sewn, like a proper book, but yellowed with age and not so brittle as I would have expected. No price printed.

I haven't found the Golding book yet.
