Rudolf in the rain

Good sleep but woke as expected to steady rain, which continued without break all day.
We had breakfast and sat and chatted for a couple of hours about all sorts, only pausing when the repair man arrived to try and fix the handle on the toilet flush.
Decided to go out to explore by car a bit. We drove along the lake shore and across the dam with its grassy rather than stone retaining wall, having a look at various points of interest marked on our map. We weren’t tempted out to explore much as it was really drenching rain, but at least got our bearings and enjoyed seeing the countryside in its dripping grandeur. Hadn’t realised it was 26 miles round the lake, so our early plan to walk all around it won’t work!
We’ll look forward to a longer walk tomorrow when it’s due to be dry, but ended up going back to the lodge. As we pulled in we saw the reindeer had arrived for the weekend’s events so grabbed my blip before an afternoon of Scrabble with (by 3.30pm!) G&Ts! Lot of laughs and bonkers invented words, then lasagne and salad for supper and we watched the BakeOff final then another film-Charlie Wilson’s War.
Definitely made the best of a dreich day!
